Psoriasis Causes

Psoriasis is a dermatological complaint that is linked with painful red, itchy and silvery scales on the skin. This condition is usually a chronic complaint and acute presentations have been rarely noted. Psoriasis alters the life cycle of the skin cells. Psoriasis causes are not so distinctly delineated but few known causes include

1. Infections
2. Genetics
3. Smoking
4. Weakened immunity
5. Medications

Because psoriasis causes are poorly understood and studied, a gold standard treatment has not been discovered. Psoriasis is a condition that has potential for a vast research and appropriate steps if taken to understand the pathogenesis of the disease, it can be controlled easily.

Psoriasis Symptoms

Patients of psoriasis usually report to the dermatology OPD with complaints of itchiness over the skin with scaling. However, further modifications of the same are also noted. As previously established, some psoriasis symptoms are as follows.

1. Painful red, itchy and silvery scales on the skin
2. Inflammation
3. Pus filled vesicles

The positioning of these scales and their underlying pathogenesis is a marker for the type of psoriasis. As previously noted, psoriasis symptoms being associated with inflammation, use of NSAIDs is beneficial. Also, in the type of pustular psoriasis there are pus filled bumps of scaly skin on different areas of the body, mainly the exposes areas.
